Jobcentre Plus

Jobcentre Plus is the government agency to support people looking for work. In Gosport the Jobcentre Plus office is in Walpole Road and is open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Customers are welcome to call in at any time during these hours to access Jobpoints where they can search the jobs available. Advisers in the centres can help clients access a range of programmes designed to help unemployed people from Apprenticeships to Employability Skills to Response to Redundancy.

 

Also based at the Gosport Jobcentre are nextstep advisers, offering free, impartial, and confidential advice on learning, training, or work to adults aged 20 or more or aged 18 or 19, who have been referred to nextstep by Jobcentre. Their website gives information on how to access their support and has a large resource section on helping yourself to find work.

Reach Out

Reach out is a programme offered by VT Enterprise to support people in Gosport to find work. They offer appointments at a range of venues across the borough:

  • Monday – Access Point Nimrod Community Centre Rowner

  • Tuesday – Seafield House Old Road Gosport

  • Wednesday – Discovery Centre The Library Gosport

  • Thursday – Access Point, Nimrod Community Centre Rowner

  • Friday – The Chapel Gosport Resource Centre St Georges Walk

They offer one to one support, up to 40 weeks, that is tailored and personalised to the needs of the client. Mentoring and advocacy, personal development training opportunities, job related training, work experience, work trials, CV’s, job search, interview technique, coaching and self confidence courses.

Fastforward

Fastforward is a programme run by the Wheatsheaf Trust based in Gosport. The service is here to help you to get on in your career and or get back into work, overcoming the barriers in your life that are stopping you from reaching your full potential. It is available to anyone 19 or over and living in South Hampshire and can be accessed by visiting or telephoning the walk-in centre in The Chapel, St George’s Walk. 02392 525921
