SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD

Regular programmes are being run in Gosport schools, Children’s Centres and other venues to help you support your child at school and at home. Check the family learning page and the local help for parents page for details of events and programmes coming up soon.

Many primary schools in Gosport have a Home School Link Worker; someone in school who can support parents and their children with issues such as settling into a new school, making friends and encouraging children to do their homework. In the three secondary schools staff are available in each year office for parents with similar issues and can put you in touch with specialists who can help. See also Local Services in the Support for Parents section for other people who can help you, including the Parent Support Advisers.

Each school in Gosport is making efforts to provide parents with further information and advice to support their child; see your child’s school calendar for details of specific events such as choosing your GCSE options, coping with exams or reading with your child. If there’s something else you’d like help with do ask at your child’s school.

Gosport Community Safety Partnership are offering new Alcohol Awareness workshops – an opportunity for parents and their children to learn and talk together about the effects of drinking. See the events calendar for the next workshop.
